You need an experienced DWI lawyer to fight to save your license and prevent the Government from convicting you of DWI.

Can you afford to lose your Texas Driver’s License?

Following an arrest for DWI in Houston, an individual has two separate cases to deal with. The first case is the Administrative License Revocation (ALR) proceedings. The Department of Public Safety (DPS) will automatically suspend your license unless you request a hearing to challenge that suspension within 15 days of your DWI arrest! If a driver’s license hearing is not requested within 15 days after the DWI arrest, your Texas Driver’s License will automatically be suspended on the 40th day after your arrest. Therefore, it is critical to request the Driver’s License hearing within the 15 day period. Contact our DWI attorneys now to save your driver’s license from automatically being suspended.

The second case that a citizen must confront is the criminal prosecution in the criminal courts. If you have been arrested for a Harris County DWI, you will have court within one week of your release from jail. If you have been arrested in Galveston County, Fort Bend County, Brazoria County Montgomery County or other county, your court date will be sometime in the future. However, the driver’s license hearing mentioned above must still be requested in within the first 15 days after your arrest. The criminal prosecution of your case is done by several law enforcement agencies and can have costly consequences for you. Your license, your freedom and your job could be affected if you are convicted of DWI in Houston. If convicted of DWI, you face a suspension of your Texas Driver’s License, large fines and court costs, probation, jail time and large surcharges on your Texas Driver’s License.

Even though the driver’s license hearing and the criminal case are two different cases, challenging the driver’s license suspension is often the most important step in fighting the criminal portion of your Houston DWI. Generally, we have the opportunity to question the arresting officer at the driver’s license hearing to gain valuable information about the DWI arrest. Through our years of experience, we have had many cases dismissed as a direct result of the information that we have obtained through the driver’s license hearing. Having an experienced Houston DWI Attorney can be the difference between you winning or losing your DWI / DUI case.
