What do officers examine in a one-leg stand test?

Posted on March 5th, 2010 No Comments

When individuals are pulled over for a suspected DWI, they often undergo a series of field sobriety tests. One of these tests is the one leg stand test.

During this test, drivers are often required to stand on one leg. While standing, these drivers will be watched by police officers who will look for swaying, loss of balance, and hopping. If drivers lose balance multiple times while performing this test, officers will likely conduct more tests or arrest them.

If you or anyone you know has been arrested for a DWI, contact the Houston DWI attorneys of Johnson, Johnson, & Baer, P.C., at 713-222-0400.
