Law enforcement agencies across the state of Texas are increasing patrol of the Labor Day weekend in order to keep an extra eye out for people driving while impaired.
According to the Texas Department of Transportation, Texas has one of the highest rates of alcohol-related car crashes and the extra patrolling for Labor Day weekend is to help prevent this.
The campaign is called “Drink. Drive. Go to Jail” and last year during the crackdown, police officers across the state worked a total of 18,000 hours overtime. TxDOT officials have said that police officers will be on patrol and know what signs to look for in order to spot a drunk or impaired driver.
If you have been charged with drunken driving, contact the Houston DUI lawyers of Johnson, Johnson & Baer, P.C. by calling 713-222-0400 to discuss your legal options.
