An alleged Houston drunk driver has been charged in a fatal traffic accident last weekend.

According to court docuemtns, 22 year-old Nefi Cruz is charged with accident involving injury and intoxication manslaughter in the 176th State District Court. Several witnesses said the victim of the accident, Rodrigo Caballero Cisneros, was driving a black Ford Mustang east on Harwin Road shortly after 2:05 a.m. Cruz was traveling southbound on the West Sam Houston Parkway in a silver Volkswagen Golf.

Witnesses report that Cruz ran a red light at the intersection of HArwin Road and the Volkswagen struck the ford, causing it to spin and hit the concrete median on the south side of the roadway. Response crews pronounced 30 year-old Cineros dead at the scene.

According to officials with the Houston Police Department, Cruz fled the scene on foot and was apprehended by officers a short distance away.
