A man was arrested for driving while intoxicated in Houston on Saturday.
According to Harris County District Court documents, 37 year-old Modesto Almendarez Soriano, of 1130 Pilot Point Drive, is charged with a felony count of driving while intoxicated. The criminal complaint does not specify where the alleged incident took place. Soriano, an Aldine-resident, has two previous DWI convictions.
Soriano is being held at the Harris County Jail in lieu of a $10,000 bond, according to online court records. He is scheduled to appear in court on August 1. He was previously convicted of DWI in Harris County in August 200 and May 2005.
The justice system divides misdemeanors and felonies because of the belief that some crimes, being more problematic than others, deserve severe punishment. A felony conviction could result in the loss of voting rights, ineligibility for public office, and ineligibility for visas.
