Katy probationary officer fired after car accident kills two

A 22-year-old probationary officer in Katy has been fired after the truck he owned was responsible for the death of two people.
The officer and his 23-year-old friend were intoxicated when the friend decided to drive the officer’s truck. They were traveling on Interstate 10 when they swerved across lanes and crashed directly into a parked car. A 48-year-old woman and her 12-year-old son had pulled their car over in order to fix a flat tire.
The woman was outside of the car when the truck struck. The car became engulfed in flames and both the woman and her son were killed at the scene.The driver of the truck has been charged with two counts of intoxication manslaughter and the owner of the truck was stripped of his title.

Six-year-old dies in probable DWI accident

Eight people were traveling in a car Saturday night in North Houston when the car hit a wall and flipped. A six-year-old girl was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene.
The 25-year-old female driver is being charged with intoxication manslaughter in the accident and is said to be the victim’s aunt. She was driving west on North Loop when she crossed over several lanes and hit a concrete barrier, flipping her vehicle upside down.
Five of the passengers were taken to the hospital and their current conditions are unknown. At least one of those passengers was another young child. North Loop was closed for four hours while police tended to the accident.

15-year prison sentence for intoxication manslaughter charge

A Conroe honor student who attended Sam Houston State University will serve 15 years in prison for an intoxication manslaughter charge.
The 25-year-old female drank at a Chili’s restaurant in San Antonio and then decided to drive home. Her blood-alcohol level was nearly four times the legal limit when she drove on the wrong side of a road and struck an oncoming car head on.
A woman and her two sons were in the car that was hit. The 53-year-old music teacher and mother of two died at the scene of the accident. She was the sole caregiver for her husband who suffered from multiple sclerosis as well as her two sons.
The drunk driver made an open no-contest plea and has enrolled in AA and is seeking help. The judge in her case determined that she acted recklessly and made the improper decision when she decided to drive inebriated. She will have to serve at least half of her 15-year sentence before she will be eligible for parole.

Fatal DWI Houston construction accident

Intoxication manslaughter has been issued to a 34-year-old man who hit a construction worker while speeding down a highway.
Around 3:15 a.m. the driver of a silver Infiniti G35 was speeding through a construction zone when he steered towards the left and hit a construction worker. The worker died of his injuries. His identity has not been made public at this time.
The driver was pulled over by Houston Police and given field sobriety tests where it was confirmed that he was driving while intoxicated.

Beaumont man sentenced to 20 years for intoxication manslaughter

A Beaumont man was sentenced to 20 years in prison on Monday after he was charged with intoxication manslaughter.
24-year-old Lance Edward Palermo was driving drunk on January 3rd when he caused a collision that resulted in the death of 16-year-old Shelby Forester. Palermo was recklessly driving at a speed between 99 and 107 miles per hour, and was found to have a blood alcohol content over four times the legal Texas limit.
Along with the intoxication manslaughter charge, Palermo also received three aggravated assault charges. Due to Palermo pleading guilty to the charges, the judge ruling the case dismissed two of the aggravated assault charges and agreed to allow his sentences to run concurrently.

Houston Drunk Driver Charged in Fatal Crash

An alleged Houston drunk driver has been charged in a fatal traffic accident last weekend.
According to court docuemtns, 22 year-old Nefi Cruz is charged with accident involving injury and intoxication manslaughter in the 176th State District Court. Several witnesses said the victim of the accident, Rodrigo Caballero Cisneros, was driving a black Ford Mustang east on Harwin Road shortly after 2:05 a.m. Cruz was traveling southbound on the West Sam Houston Parkway in a silver Volkswagen Golf.
Witnesses report that Cruz ran a red light at the intersection of HArwin Road and the Volkswagen struck the ford, causing it to spin and hit the concrete median on the south side of the roadway. Response crews pronounced 30 year-old Cineros dead at the scene.
According to officials with the Houston Police Department, Cruz fled the scene on foot and was apprehended by officers a short distance away.

Houston Driver Could Face Charges of Three Counts Intoxication Manslaughter

Police are not identifying a suspect who drove the Toyota Camry that killed three teenagers in an accident Friday in Houston.
Authorities say the Camry was traveling north on the Highway 59 feeder. KHOU reports, “he ran a red light and smashed into a Ford Excursion traveling east on the Sam Houston Tollway feeder.”
The Excursion was full, “carrying a man, a woman and five teenage girls,” according to KHOU. The vehicle was then sent right into a utility pole. Three of the teenagers, who were not wearing seat belts, were thrown from the vehicle. Of those, two died on the scene, and one died at the hospital Sunday.
If blood tests reveal that the Camry driver was above the legal alcohol limit, he could face three counts of intoxication manslaughter.
Man jailed for intoxication manslaughter after collision

A 35-year-old man has been jailed after ahead-on collision that took the life of two people. He has been charged with two counts of intoxication manslaughter.
A trooper said that the man was heading eastbound on Business Interstate 20 around 11 p.m. when he suddenly turned northbound. A Ford truck with a male and female riding inside were doing a U-turn at the same time and the vehicles collided.
The two people riding in the Ford were transported to the hospital where they were later pronounced dead. Intoxication manslaughter carries a possible sentence of two to 20 years and a fine of up to $10,000.
